Abstract

The article actualizes the problem of academic honesty principles implementation in higher education institutions. There are systematized the regulatory and legal documents which determine the expediency of introducing the principles of academic integrity in the educational process of higher education institutions. The essence of the concepts «honesty», «academic honesty», which is defined as a code of morality and ethical rules of the cultural, scientific and educational community. The example of Vasyl Stefanyk Precarpathian National University proves that higher education institutions are guided by laws and recommendations on the implementation and observance of the academic honesty principles in the educational environment. The main conditions that will promote the development honest educational environment in higher education institutions are identified, namely: the development of educational programs that address the topic of honesty, determine its role in the educational process and the development of a successful personality, promote the formation of practical skills to avoid corruption in everyday life and professional activities; development of the projects to implement the academic integrity principles, popularization of the scientific traditions that have been tested over time; organization of webinars, mass open online courses on academic integrity, etc. It is concluded that in higher education institutions it is necessary to adhere to clear rules and norms of academic integrity, transparently and consistently put into practice academic norms and rules, develop, clarify and deal in proper way with cases of academic integrity breaches. For adhere to the principles of academic integrity, it is necessary to make references carefully to scientific and literary sources, while working with information in the case of the using the ideas and statements, respect author’s right, adhere to the principle of authenticity in the process of interpreting the facts. It is the indisputable fact that the implementation of the academic integrity principles should change the thinking and consciousness of young people, improve the quality of education.
