ORGANIZATIONAL AND PEDAGOGICAL CONDITIONS OF EDUCATION OF THE FUNDAMENTALS OF PATRIOTISM OF SENIOR PRE-SCHOOL STUDENTS IN PRE-SCHOOL EDUCATION INSTITUTIONS OF UKRAINE (END OF THE XX – BEGINNING OF THE XXI CENTURY)

Abstract

The article examines the problem of patriotic upbringing of preschool children in the late 19th and early 20th centuries; based on the analysis of dictionary sources, the essence of the concept of “patriotism” is highlighted. The main pedagogical studies on the education of patriotism in preschool children are considered. The content of the main regulatory and legal documents (Law of Ukraine “On Education”, “On Preschool Education”, Soviet Pedagogical Doctrine, National Doctrine of Education Development, Strategy of National-Patriotic Education of Children and Youth for 2020-2025, Concept of National-Patriotic Education of Children and youth) regarding the patriotic upbringing of preschool children. The main titles of patriotic education of older preschool children are defined, including: education of love for the native city, the region, the land, its natural wealth and beauty based on their emotional evaluation by children and the feeling of personal value; formation of abilities and skills of ethical behavior, which are historically characteristic of the Ukrainian people based on the perception of the phenomena of goodness, beauty, and justice; forming a sense of respect for the cultural values of the native people and their traditions based on a sense of belonging to these values; forming a sense of self-worth as a representative of one’s people; activation of the child’s intentions and desire to protect the native land and its interests in the future thanks to the emergence of a sense of dignity and a sense of belonging to the Ukrainian people; tolerant attitude towards representatives of other nationalities. It was determined that it was in the specified period (the end of the 19th and the beginning of the 20th century) that the formation and development of the direction of patriotic education of preschool children took place, and the institution of preschool education played a significant role in the process of forming patriotism in children.
