Abstract

In today's globalized world, effective communication in English and a good command of scientific and technical language for representatives of technical specialties during business communication is critical for success in the technology industry. These are not just new benefits, but increasingly a prerequisite for professional implementation. Therefore, it is extremely important to pay special attention to the scientific and technical aspect of communication as a component of business communication in this field within the framework of the formation of professional communicative competence of technical majors. A prominent constructive component of scientific and technical speech (in English discourse it is often synonymous with the concepts of "business English" or "professional English") are terms, so the skills of translating technical terminologies are in many ways decisive for the communicative competence of students of non-linguistic specialties. Today, English is the language of science and technology. More than 50% of the world's technical and scientific periodicals are published in English. Many technical English courses are focused on a certain profession. Each field of technology has its own unique vocabulary of terms and even grammar features, so technical English differs depending on the field of operation. The purpose of the article is to determine the role of the translation of technical terminology in the formation of communicative competences of students of non-linguistic specialties, as well as to highlight effective strategies for teaching technical higher education students term systems in the pair "English-Ukrainian" and vice versa. The article reviews current domestic and foreign literature on the problems of technical translation, translation and professional communication skills of specialists in technical specialties. It is emphasized that the ideal option for honing the skills of translating technical terminology is a special course within the variable component of the training of applicants for technical specialties. Otherwise, increased attention should be paid to the translation of terminologies during the study of a professional English course with a view to lifelong learning. The universal principles of teaching English in the context of studying a foreign language by profession are singled out, which improve students' knowledge of non-language specialties of technical higher education institutions of special professional terminology, integrating it into improved communicative competence.
